Anti-Doping Information and Resources /

The new Prohibited List comes into effect on 1st January 2017.

Sport Wales works in partnership with National Governing Bodies of sport in Wales and UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) to ensure that athletes are aware of their responsibilities and compete clean.

With the 2015 UKAD Code in place, it is essential that individuals competing in sport in Wales (at all levels) are aware of their responsibilities and the strict rules around anti-doping, while governing bodies are required to carry out anti-doping education for their athletes and provide information on the tougher sanctions that have been introduced.

All Sport Wales Institute practitioners are required to undertake anti-doping education as part of their work with athletes.

Therapeutic Use Exemption Forms (TUE)

The Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) process is a means by which an athlete can obtain approval to use a prescribed prohibited substance or method for the treatment of a legitimate medical condition. There are two types of TUE:

1) standard TUE - required for a Prohibited Substance or Prohibited Method other than inhaled beta-2 agonists

2) TUE specifically for asthma - only required for the use of inhaled beta-2 agonists for certain products i.e. formoterol and terbutaline
