Sport Wales appoints new Head of Partnership Development

Jane Foulkes has been appointed Head of Partnership Development at Sport Wales and will lead a new approach to ensuring community sport is more diverse, enjoyable and accessible for all.

Foulkes, from Mold in North Wales, will take up the position in March 2018 and step up from her role as Senior Officer within Sport Wales's community sport team.

The role will lead the community sport approach to developing a wide-ranging, diverse partner network within sport and beyond. A key element will be to look at cross-public sector working and strategic partnerships that will help tackle barriers to participation.

The use of insight and data to support organisations to engage more people in regular participation will also play a major part of the work.

"I'm delighted to be taking on the role and supporting the work of the sector," said Foulkes.

"There are many people and organisations with a role to play in making it as easy as possible for people to take part in sport. The current work on the new vision for sport in Wales has really given us a fresh perspective on the breadth of partnerships we currently have and those we will need to develop in the future. I see this as a fantastic opportunity to ensure that sport continues to play a key role in our society and that it is recognised and valued for the impact it has on the wellbeing of future generations."

Foulkes brings a wealth of experience to the role having previously worked in Flintshire County Council as a Sports Development Manager before joining Sport Wales

Director of Community Engagement, Graham Williams commented:

"Jane has particularly strong experience of working with our partners and will now take on a fresh approach as we step up this area of work.

"For our existing partnerships we want to work together on positive ways of working for the future including how we can apply insight more effectively across all our networks.

"Strong diverse partnerships will also help sport engage with more people and get them enjoying all the benefits that sport can bring."
